Breathing sucks. This picture does not do the air quality justice.
As much as it’s a bit of an old turd and I wouldn’t cry a lot if it went up in smoke, it might come in handy. My Mrs. was confused by my decision, reminding me that our homeowner’s insurance covers rent should we be displaced. However thousands of others in the area probably have similar coverage and the supply will quickly be overrun by demand.
I also took the time to set up and install my Ring cam. There’s a lot of concern that sleezeballs will take advantage of the vacated homes, plus I’ll be able to check in and see what’s going on as long as there’s power.
Further, I set up a rooftop sprinkler on a timer to run 40 minutes and stop for 20 minutes. My well can’t keep up running it constantly, so again, as long as there’s power, my roof and surrounding lawn will stay good n’ damp.
I’ll sleep a little better now.

Glad you grabbed it, definitely good to have backup plans for an extended emergency like this. Also glad you got out of there safely.

I think that was a good call. I didn’t want to second guess you, as you’ve got enough to deal with, but I was thinking the trailer should have been pulled before the XJ. You can live in the trailer in that worst case scenario. Can’t really live in an XJ.
Hopefully it won't come to that.

The more prepared you are...the more prepared you are...though my question is...do you have all the paperwork to hand that proves you are who you say you are and that the property you own and have insurance for is the property you own and have insurance for? Because it’s THE MOST IMPORTANT PAPERWORK you’ll ever need if your house and stuff is cremated. Many Australians have learned this lesson to their detriment.

I can live in the ‘burban!
The XJ was rescued for its sentimental value over anything else. It's been with me nearly 20 years now.

That is a great mask. I use the 3m7000 series which I have had for years but I can’t wear my glasses.
